Organic Inspiration

As an artist, your eye is constantly scanning, analyzing line, shape, color, etc., as you make your way through your day.  The result is inspiration.  Sometimes you’re intentionally on the hunt, sometimes it happens organically.  The organic inspiration process is my favorite.  Organic inspiration almost hits you right in the face sometimes, or maybe you step on it. 

We recently took a trip to Nassau in the Bahamas and stayed at the Hilton Baha Mar.  We were strolling along, and it happened.  I saw this floor.  It was a floor that demanded attention and was not to be ignored.  I found myself going around and around in circles admiring this floor.  The black and white was screaming at me.  “Okay, okay.  I hear you!,” I told the floor.  “One day, I’ll paint you,” I said.

I made a pinkie promise to the floor, so I’ve started…  it’s a work in progress.  I’ll keep you posted!
