Diving into Blue

Ocean Blue Palette, Inger Taylor, 2018
Can I tell you how excited I am to be diving into the blues for my next painting project?!! I think you know by now, I LOVE my blues. I don’t think there’s a blue I’ve met that I don’t love. I grew up spending most of my time by the ocean or on the ocean so virtually any blue reminds me of home. I think I always go back to blue because it really is like going home.

Blue makes me feel so good. Blue feels comfortable and reassuring like my sweatpants after a big meal. Blue says, “I love you no matter what.” Blue really is true blue to me. So loyal and dependable... I know it will always be there when I need it. It makes me feel so safe and secure.
Blurred Lines, Inger Taylor, 2007
It brings a smile to my heart even if it makes a dark appearance. Even when it tries to be a deep, dark, ominous asshole, it can’t scare me away. I’m committed to blue, but not in an unhealthy codependent way. We support each other... we build each other up. I want blue to spend time with the blue family and I admire how well it plays with others. It’s not afraid to get in the mix and hang with any other color out there.

Blue can be bright and bold or more quiet and shy. When I’m feeling stressed or anxious, it brings me peace, calm, and tranquility. It’s soothing and relaxing even if it’s playing it cool. Blue has an understated confidence and strength and isn’t one to throw in the towel when the going gets tough.
Keep It Together, Inger Taylor, 2001
So, I guess it’s safe to say blue and I are here to stay. There’s a mutual love and respect that cannot be denied. We have built a beautiful, creative life together and have many years ahead of us to look forward to.
I love you blue.
Xoxo,
Inger
